MAY WRAP UP

Hey guys! May is finally over and summer is also over (for me anyway)
My feelings basically:
I do not want to go to school. I just want to have a long summer with lots and lots of reading. Anyway before I get too emotional about school, I want to say that I had a great reading month! I read a total of 10 books and they were all so good!
Title: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
My Rating: 4.5/5 bananas
Goodreads description: “There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

My thoughts on the book: OMYGOODNESS this book was awesome! I have been avoiding Maggie since everybody, and by that I mean, EVERYBODY dislikes her Shiver series so I thought her other books were also that bad. But NO this book was sooooo good! I love it! The characters were amazing and you can really see that Maggie placed a lot of groundwork in this book. Highly recommended. (if you want to know more of my thoughts on this book, my book review is right here.)

Title: Isla and the Happily Ever After
My ratings: 4.5/5 bananas
Goodreads Description: Hopeless romantic Isla has had a crush on introspective cartoonist Josh since their first year at the School of America in Paris. And after a chance encounter in Manhattan over the summer, romance might be closer than Isla imagined. But as they begin their senior year back in France, Isla and Josh are forced to confront the challenges every young couple must face, including family drama, uncertainty about their college futures, and the very real possibility of being apart.

My thoughts on the book: My favorite out of the other 2 from the trilogy! I really enjoyed reading about Isla and Josh. And meeting all the characters from the trilogy was really cool. But yeah, I enjoyed this book a lot.

Title: I'll give you the sun by Jandy Nelson
My ratings: 5/5 Bananas
Goodreads description: Jude and her twin brother, Noah, are incredibly close. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude cliff-dives and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and dramatic ways . . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as someone else—an even more unpredictable new force in her life. The early years are Noah's story to tell. The later years are Jude's. What the twins don't realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.

My thoughts on the book: OHMYGOODNESS THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK EVERRR. I JUST LOVE THIS BOOK AND EVERYBODY SHOULD READ IT! OKAY? OKAY. (my proper thoughts on the book because I just cant stop gushing about it here, so here's my full review)

Title: Everybody Sees the Ants by A.S. King
My ratings: 4/5 bananas
Goodreads description: Lucky Linderman didn't ask for his life. He didn't ask his grandfather not to come home from the Vietnam War. He didn't ask for a father who never got over it. He didn't ask for a mother who keeps pretending their dysfunctional family is fine. And he didn't ask to be the target of Nader McMillan's relentless bullying, which has finally gone too far.

But Lucky has a secret--one that helps him wade through the daily mundane torture of his life. In his dreams, Lucky escapes to the war-ridden jungles of Laos--the prison his grandfather couldn't escape--where Lucky can be a real man, an adventurer, and a hero. It's dangerous and wild, and it's a place where his life just might be worth living. But how long can Lucky keep hiding in his dreams before reality forces its way
inside?

My thoughts in the book: I loved this book. I fell in love with all of the character except Nader. I hate him. but I wish I saw more of Nader, the reasons behind his bullying. and I also want to get to know more about Charlotte. yeah basically that's it. I really enjoyed this book and the message it gave was very clear. Plus, there's a magic realism aspect into ti which I really enjoyed.

Title: The Young Elites by Marie Lu
My ratings: 4.5/5 bananas
Goodreads description: I am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.

Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

My thoughts on the book: This book was a re-read for me because the first time I read it, I was in a reading slump. This book was so good! It's so dark and gritty. Our MC is very complex and I really liked that. The only problem I had is that the world building isn't that great. I think it would've been nice to know the world more. But overall it was really a good book. If you want to hear more of my thoughts, book review right here.

Title: Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
My ratings: 4.5/5
Goodreads description: *description contains spoilers for the first book*
My thoughts on the book: This book was good and I enjoyed it. The only problem was, the first hundred, I think, pages really made me annoyed because of the cheesy dialogues and Adam ruined everything for me. I hate him. But Juliette's character development was awesome to see.

Title: Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi
My ratings: 3/5 bananas
Goodreads description: *Description contains spoilers for the 1st and 2nd book*
My thoughts on the book: This is actually a novella and it's in the POV of Adam. I didn't really enjoy this novella coz I went in to this book with a negative attitude because it's Adam. I never liked Adam. These novellas are really a MUST READ if you read the shatter me trilogy.

Title: Red Rising by Pierce Brown
My ratings: 4/5 bananas
Goodreads description: The Earth is dying. Darrow is a Red, a miner in the interior of Mars. His mission is to extract enough precious elements to one day tame the surface of the planet and allow humans to live on it. The Reds are humanity's last hope.

Or so it appears, until the day Darrow discovers it's all a lie. That Mars has been habitable - and inhabited - for generations, by a class of people calling themselves the Golds. A class of people who look down on Darrow and his fellows as slave labour, to be exploited and worked to death without a second thought.

Until the day that Darrow, with the help of a mysterious group of rebels, disguises himself as a Gold and infiltrates their command school, intent on taking down his oppressors from the inside. But the command school is a battlefield - and Darrow isn't the only student with an agenda.

My thoughts on the book:

I ENJOYED THIS BOOK A LOT. PLOT TWISTS EVERYWHERE. four stars because, I have to be honest, it was hard for me getting into this world. the first few pages was slow, world building and stuff. but it totally picked up its pace. it was really action packed and very descriptive when it comes to fighting scenes to the point that I just cringe and close one of my eye from disgust because the picture is painted vividly in my head. I was annoyed with the decisions that Darrow made, he was not thinking clearly and not thinking out the situations but character development happened and Darrow, maybe, is now one of my favorite characters. maybe. there was tiny bit of romance in this book. actually, it was like there was none. but I totally loved that aspect of it. it was breathe of fresh air :-) anyway, i totally recommend this book. it was such a ride! excited to be reading the next one! (this is from my goodreads review)

Title: Crank by Ellen Hopkins
My ratings: 3.5/5 bananas
Goodreads description: In Crank, Ellen Hopkins chronicles the turbulent and often disturbing relationship between Kristina, a character based on her own daughter, and the "monster," the highly addictive drug crystal meth, or "crank." Kristina is introduced to the drug while visiting her largely absent and ne'er-do-well father. While under the influence of the monster, Kristina discovers her sexy alter-ego, Bree: "there is no perfect daughter, / no gifted high school junior, / no Kristina Georgia Snow. / There is only Bree." Bree will do all the things good girl Kristina won't, including attracting the attention of dangerous boys who can provide her with a steady flow of crank

My thoughts on the book: This book was okay. I really enjoyed it and i think this book is really important in this society. But the ending was a bit rushed for me and there was no resolution to the problems but I guess I'll get my answers to the following books. It took time for me to adjust to the writing style since, as you know, this book is in verse form. So it doesn't describe things that much but it totally fits the story.

Title: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
My ratings: 3/5 bananas
Goodreads description: When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

Thoughts on the book: This book was okay. Too much sex scenes its like on every chapter which bugged me. A lot. But the ending was really good. Miles is such a complex character and he has a lot going on with his life. That's why in this book we are switching POVs with Tate, the main character, and Miles but in different time periods. And it was done very well.
