BOOKISH PET PEEVES

Hello everyone, My name is Czar but you can also call me Esther, since i have a very weird name, and today, I’m gonna share with you guys my Bookish Pet Peeves!

I know everyone has some issues about books. Whether about the physical parts of a book, some things that you dislike on bookstores or the stories of the book itself. Those kind of stuff.So today, I will share with you guys, mine. There’s some annoying things about the physical parts of a book ya’know. So let’s get started with number 1! :)

1. COVER CHANGES

This is the most frustrating thing ever! When you start a series with this type of cover, then when the next book comes out the cover totally does not match! :(Now, you have to buy the books all over again! It would be totally okay, if the first cover was an ugly cover then they changed it into a beautiful cover. But a beautiful cover, into a ugly cover? just No. Publishers should also match the books in their covers. 

2. BOOKS WITH STICKERS ON THEM

When a pretty cover, is being covered by a sticker! whether it would be a price sticker or anything that is stuck to a book. Then, when you remove the sticker, a sticky thing is left. Which is really annoying! Stickers are not necessary! The stickers with prices are sometimes okay. Books should be wrapped by plastic and the sticker prices should be stuck onto it.

3. WHEN A BOOKSTORE HAS THE REST OF THE SERIES/TRILOGY EXCEPT THE FIRST BOOK

The first book of a series is needed! So what do you want bookstore, we’d just have to skip the first book, the world building and just dive into the 2nd book? NO! I haven’t started with the Mortal Instruments series because I can’t find the first book in my local bookstores. Which is really sad, because I watched the movie and heard mixed reviews about it. Why are you even a bookstore if you don’t have the 1st book…

4. WHEN BOOKS DON’T HAVE LABELS ON WHAT ORDER THEY GO IN

Those big series, that does not have the number of order in the series they’re in. I, once spoiled myself in a book because I didn’t know what number the book is. Books should have atleast, a number on their spines. A very good example of a series that does not have numbers on the order they go in on their spines of any in the book is, the Pretty Little Liars series! That is a very very long series. That would be a good help for every readers if they had numbers somewhere on the book.

5. WHEN BOOKS HAVE DIFFERENT HEIGHTS

Paperbacks and hardbacks should agree on one height! There are some paperbacks that are much more higher than the rest. Then there’s hardbacks that are taller than most hardbacks. Why do you do this? Can the books have like, universal height or something? Shelves would look really good if this happened.Publishers! please hear us!

6. COVERS THAT DON’T STAY DOWN (paperbacks)

Even when I put books on top of that certain book, for like hours. The cover, still, does not stay down! The cover is just being a ski slope. I tried to like, put my very heavy math book ontop of that certain book that has a ski slope cover, but in the end, it was still a ski slope. It's just annoying

7. WHEN STORE SELL DAMAGED BOOKS

I know a bookstore that does this very well. I was the one who even arranged their books because they were all over the place! The book’s sides were creased, the pages were folded. No plastic was covering the books! I don’t know why they do this. I never bought a book from that bookstore. Plus, their shelves are almost empty! I mean, WHAT?!

8. BOOK CHARACTERS THAT HAVE NAMES THAT ARE HARD TO PRONOUNCE

Some books, have characters that are very hard to pronounce. Sometimes, I just don’t read the whole name while reading because it’s hard to pronounce them! I don’t know if I’m just the only one who hates this, maybe some of you don’t. A very good example for this is, Celaena Sardothien and Chaol from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Their names was so hard to pronounce the first time I read it. Not until I looked at the last pages did I knew how to pronounce them.
